President Rodrigo Duterte is known for his active campaign against illegal drugs. He expressed his intentions to set up regional rehabilitation centers across the country.

According to a report, these rehab centers will cater those drug users who voluntarily turn themselves to the authorities.

According to a recent news report of Inquirer.net, San Miguel Corporation pledge to the government to build a drug rehabilitation facility under a P1-billion donation.

San Miguel corporation is known for being vocal over its commitment to support Duterte’s administration’s campaign on anti-illegals drugs in the country.

“We’re fully supportive of our government’s anti-drug dependency efforts,” San Miguel president and COO Ramon Ang said.

The company aims to help drug dependents reform, especially the youth.

The deal was singed by non-profit Pilipinong May Puso Foundation Inc. (PMPF) chair Rowena Kristina Amara Velasco, Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Paulyn Jean Rosell-Ubial, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Ismael Sueno, Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr., Bataan Provincial Governor Albert Garcia, and Ang at the conglomerate’s Mandaluyong City headquarters.

The DOH was said to be in charge of maintaining the Facility that will be provided by the Bataan provincial government.

San Miguel Corporation agreed to provide funding and undertake construction of the Rehabilitation facility.
