GMA reveals the return of Encantadia.
Much to the excitement of the fans, GMA network finally revealed on Friday the much-awaited return of the fantasy series “Encatadia” on its screens naming the actresses who will play the four main characters of the series.
It was revealed on the network’s news program that in replacement of the previous casts, Kylie Padilla (Amihan), Gabbi Garcia (Alena), Sanya Lopez (Danaya) and Glaiza de Castro (Pirena) will play as the new Sang’gres or the royal bloods who hold the elemental gemstones of air, water, earth and fire and are tasked to protect the balance.
Encantadia first aired on 2006 and has been an asset to the network’s primetime and now coming back with a more intensive and careful planning.
Director Mark Reyes and lead concept artist Noel Flores took the stage at NexCon 2016 to talk about the rebirth of the series. According to Reyes, there are a lot of things that could make fans nostalgic but promised new twists and characters that will surprise the readers.
“It’s based on the mythology of Encantadia, but we’re going to fix things that we thought needed fixing in the original run,” said Reyes.
They revealed that the plan of series’ requel started as early as 2010, it was only then in 2015 that the network management gave a go-signal to pursue the project. Reyes said that their marching orders were to outdo the last series.

Part of the development is the creative team who are taking advantage of the latest technology which is aimed to reduce the aesthetic quality of the series, even making use of the high definition cameras.
Meanwhile, Flores presented the map of the Encantadia is various rendition showing the world’s geopolitical boundaries. More than to the creative development of the series, the creation of the working syllabic alphabet is also considered as Enchan’s language is flourished and inspired by our own baybayin.
The director claims that there is more to this new incarnation that fans should be excited of.
