Rody Duterte: “You’re not Filipinos. Shut Up!”

With regards to the issue Davao City Mayor and Presidential candidate Rodrigo Rody Duterte about the rap3 case of an Australian missionary in 1989, he broke his silence against Ambassadors Philip Goldberg of the United States and Amanda Gorely, Australian Ambassador for their statements criticizing the morality of Duterte.

Rody Duterte said in front of 5,000 people at the Pastrana Park, Kalibo, Aklan – “You’re not Filipinos. Shut up. Don’t interfere because it’s election time.”

The two ambassadors to the Philippines has released their statements with regards to the issue condemning Duterte’s joke.

Gorely said, “Rap3 and murd3r should never be joked about or trivialized. Viol3nce against women and girls is unacceptable anytime, anywhere.”

“I can only agree with the colleague from the Australian Embassy,” Goldberg said in a television interview.

“Any statements by anyone, anywhere that either degrade women or trivialize issues so serious as rape or murder, are not ones that we condone,” Goldberg added.

A women’s group filed a complaint against Duterte to the Commission on Human Rights over his “joke” about the Australian missionary Jacqueline Hammil, who was been rap3d and murd3r3d in 1989 during a h0stage-taking by inmates in Davao City detention center.

He also told the reporters, “That’s foolishness. Silly.”

Rody Duterte highlighted that even he could be criticized and even not be voted for his remarks about the aforementioned issue, he should not be sued for saying what’s on his mind.

He even added during his interview that he was just exercising his constitutional right, and even saying that he wanted to meet his complainants.

Duterte again clarified that I’s not his mouth the issue and problem of this nation, it’s the corruption.

  1. He claims he’s a Christian and yet makes the incident a source of amusement. What a hypocrite. People that critize him are told to shut up and then he uses religion as a political platform. And he is anti corruption;or is it bully tactics?
A bit of humility and apology would not be out of place?

    • Is this your fist time to hear someone who claimed to be a catholic and made bad jokes similar or even worst than this? All have their own weakneses and struggles in this case Duterte seems to be his mouth. He could not tame it. But in leading this country many seems to vent out their frustrations on previous leaders who speaks pleasantly, dress descently but failed to deliver their promises into actions. Now we got somebody who’s very transparent in words but also a man of action true track records of accomplishments worth considering. Done were the days of the traditional politicians that even the US reflect the same frustrations as proven by Donald Trump’s popularity despite his many flaws.

  2. I’m Criz and been with the Call Center/BPO industry going 14 years . Marami lang na worried sa amin na mga nagwo work sa call centers sa pagkakasabi lang ni Mayor Duterte recently sa interview sa kanya na he will cut ties relationships between U.S. and Australia. FYI , almost all accounts we have is coming from U.S. and Australian accounts . Can you please clarify this to Mayor Duterte as soon as possible ? Because baka mag dalawang isip pa ang mga taga call center/BPO industry . Hindi muna nya na consult kay Sen. Cayetano ito , which is ang 1 sa mga sinasakupan ni Sen. Cayetano is The Fort Bonifacio Taguig , na puro mga call centers/BPO . So do the math .. We need an answer as soon as possible . Malapit na ang election . Thank you .

      • @Jared if your saying that BPO will preffer Filipino’s yes that is true, but not so for many American clients in the business of BPO. If that happens the BPO may move to other countries like India, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia and that is true that they care for is money, money from their clients, clients that also share the same as the Ambassador of Australia and also America!

  3. I am leaning toward voting him, however if he continues to be like this, he might not finish his term. Worse, he might get assasinated within his first 100 days. Ingat Mr.Duterte, great powers are watching you. Our geographical location is vital to other countries interest. Learn to dance!

  4. Duterte is just using a provision in our constitution that prohibits any foreigner whether judicial or natural in person to take part directly or indirectly in our elections. For God’s sake, they are ambassadors and should be fomenting good relations and not help incense people’s outrage. They should have shut up and called their respective governments and make the condemnations there, not here.

  8. I still vote for Duterte! all these mud slinging are just part of Phils dirty politics, let’s look at the bigger picture and look at his track record. Nobody in phils can do what mayor has done in Davao. If you all can recall in 2010 national election, when Manny Villar was number 1 in the survey, he was hit hard on the C5 extension road issue and was on tv and newspaper headlines everyday for weeks as if he was already convicted by the media. But what happened after the election? Complete silence! Nobody, as in nobody ever mentioned it again and nobody dared to file a case against Villar. That is the same with mayor Duterte now. If you get blinded by those dirty tactics of Binay, Roxas and Poe, Phils and Filipinos will remain mesirable. To be frank, I really believe Duterte is our only chance to change our country.

  9. This is all politics. Why make a big issue of what he said not what he did. He offered himself to the criminals as a hostage in exchange for the life of a baby and a woman. Can the other candidates do that? Sacrifice their life for the life of another? Instead of calling him a hero, we call him a hypocrite and other things? Why do we always focus of the bad things than the good? That is one reason why the Philippines will never become as successful as Singapore or Malaysia. That is because of our Crab Mentality.

It is clear that his enemies are creating these black propaganda against him. He did not say he will cut ties, he said “sever it”, mean he challenges them if they want to sever it. Mayor Duterte is a brilliant lawyer, he knows what he is doing. He has compassion for us Filipinos, that is why we believe hindi niya kayo pababayaan. Matapos ang election, everything will go back, although there will be radical change in the government. You decide.

  13. @Criz I would like to answer you comment in English so you could understand way better, and I know that i’m not that good in English so please bear with it.

Better read the whole statement rather than judging Mayor Duterte base on what you have saw on the news. FYI, Not all the things that you saw on the news are real and reliable, sometimes you have to do a little research so you will be able to get the real story. One more thing, US, Australian and other international BPO company will never think of moving their companies and find another country who also has great speakers like Filipinos, If you only knew, Foreign companies we’re amazed on how we speak especially in English, they we’re amazed because we speak English as if it was our native language. Aside from that, The Salary that they offer is way cheaper than what they pay with their company abroad, so they could have more revenue because of that.

Believe me Criz, He will never think of cutting ties with US nor Australia or even other country. I would rather have Mr. Duterte rather than MAR, Binay, and POE . I personally confirmed that Issues about Mar and Binay are true because of my job but I wouldn’t able to go after them because my superior here is one of their dogs eating like a sh*t everyday. And POE? We don’t need her, what we will have for the 6 years is just like yellow ribbon regime which just add a heart government? so what? Because her government has a heart it doesn’t mean that we will be able to lift up our lives? Crime violators, Corrupt politician will be punish,? For some reason I’m really getting sick of this kind of thing in our country. TOmmorrow

Philippines is known for having a dirty politics.

Because BPO and Call Center Job is an Idiot Idea from our previous leader when it comes to economics for me it is just a band aide solution para magkaroon lang ng trabaho ang mga Pilipino kasi wala sa ayos ang ating Labor Sector like Government Hospitals na pwedeng pagtrabahoan, gaya ng Nurse nag call center na lang kasi di maayos ang palakad dito sa Pilipinas di makapagtrabaho sa hospital mababa sahud eh either punta nalang sa abraod or call center !, you know Phillipines is one of a poorest country because of Corruption, that is why we need Duterte para wala na call center call center ! He will fix government !

We need diplomatic ties with both countries but always remember that they need us as well. We are excellent workers, cheap labor and an asset for these countries as well. They also know that they don’t need a war just because of electoral issues in the Philippines. The issue is being blown out of proportion because Digong is number one in the race.

    • Duterte got some points though…We had a law that says foreign nationals should not interfere with our election process ? , hence, they should not make comments about a certain candidate…if we listened to Duterte carefully, what he actually said was that ” if they (US /Australia ) wants to severe the ties then be it”….
