READ: Yeng Constantino Reveals She’s Suffering From Synesthesia

Yeng constantino revealed that she is suffering from neurological condition called Synesthesia and it is also the title of her new album.

Synesthesia is a neurological condition in which one sense (for example, hearing) is simultaneously perceived as if by one or more additional senses such as sight.

There is also another form of it which joins objects such as shapes or letters with sensory perception such as smell, flavor or color.

The term came from two Greek words “syn” which means “together” and “aesthesis” which means “perception. It literally means “joined perception”.

Kapamilya singer Yeng Constantino admitted recently that she is suffering from this kind of condition, based on the article published in kami.com.ph.

“Natuklasan ko na sa three years na hindi ako naglabas ng album na mayroon pala akong synesthesia, which is ‘yung brain conditioning senses ng isang tao ay nagmi-mix,” she revealed during an interview.

She further revealed an instance that showed she indeed has synesthesia. Her condition was discovered by none other than her husband Yan Asuncion.

“Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Alam mo love, itong food na ito parang purple ‘yung kulay niya.’ Sabi ni Yan, ‘Ha?’ Hindi purple ang kulay ng food ko, I mean purple ang kulay ng taste niya. Sabi ni Yan, ‘Baka may synesthesia ka na.’ Tapos Ginoogle ko. Sobrang eksakto kung ano ang description doon. So ‘yung mga tao kapag kumakain nakakakita ng kulay or parang naa-associate nila ‘yung taste with colors or kapag nakikinig sila ng sound na-a-associate nila with colors,” Yeng elaborated.

The singer/songwriter also said that she often associate other things with colors such as during the time when she eats, when she hears a song or if she sees people, based on the article.

This might not be normal to others but this is normal for the perception of Yeng.

Synesthesia is also the title of her latest album to acknowledge her rare condition.
