Social Media Netizens Fear Duterte’s Colorful Rhetoric
Netizens in social media fear the anti-US and pro-China statements of President Rodrigo Duterte during his state visit to China.
Filipinos in social media are afraid that Duterte may be having and breaking wrong ties as he announced boosting the economic ties with China and breaks up with its longtime ally and former Colonial ruler, United States (US) during his 4 days trip to China.
On Thursday (October 20, 2016), during official events in China, the president have his colorful remarks. On Duterte’s statements, it is clear that the Philippines will turn and depend more on China.
“I announce my separation from the United States, both in the military but economics also,” said by Duterte during a business forum with Chinese government officials and businessmen. “Americans are loud, sometimes rowdy. Their larynx is not adjusted to civility,” he added quoted by Rappler.
