Parts Of Mindanao Hit By Earthquake

Parts of Mindanao hit by earthquake but there were no reports of damage.

Parts of Mindanao was hit by a magnitude 5.2 earthquake. The moderate quake was expected to have some aftershocks.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology PHILVOLCS), the said quake was located 9 kilometers northwest of Talacogon town, in Agusan del Sur and had a depth of 61 kilometers. The people were advice for the expected after shocks.

The report says that the quake hit around 7:16 in the morning. The intensity III was felt in Cagayan de Oro City; Intensity IV in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental; Intensity V in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte and in Talacogon.

Luckily there were no reports regarding about some damages of property in the said place. The people are still warned by PHILVOLCS that there were expected aftershocks.

The Philippines were located in the pacific ocean were the Ring of Fire can be found. The so-called “Ring of Fire ” were encircles the Pacific Ocean that creates frequent Volcanic eruptions and earth quakes that affects the closer places like the Philippines.

Most of the minor and major quakes occur in the Ring of Fire. Where most of the destructive and active volcanoes can be found.

This explains that most of the destructive volcanoes are in the Philippines because it lies within the Ring of Fire. There are almost twenty two active volcanoes that can be found across the archipelago.
