Dana White, McGregor, Not Part Of UFC 200

Dana White Says McGregor Won’t Be In UFC 200

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White recently confirmed that Conor McGregor would not be part of the UFC 200 in July.

In earlier reports, the UFC Welterweight champion Conor McGregor shocked the mixed martial arts world by announcing his “retirement” by posting it on Twitter.

McGregor then reversed his decision to continue fighting in the UFC.

Then, the UFC decided to pull-out McGregor from the main event of the UFC 200 in Las Vegas scheduled July 9.

According to a report on Inquirer, McGregor caused confusion saying on his twit that he is back on the UFC 200. He even thanked Dana White for this.

But, White insisted that McGregor’s statement is not true.

Now, instead of the rematch between McGregor and Nate Diaz, a title unification match will be on the main event between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones.

White told Daily Mail:

“I didn’t prevent him from fighting at UFC 200. He knew what the deal was. I told him what the deal was. He opted to do that.”

McGregor travelled to his country, Iceland to continue training instead of doing promotional obligations needed before the fight.

Since Conor is out, White has been asked who will be the opponent of Diaz.

“I don’t know. We’re going to figure that out. We gave Conor every opportunity in the world to get here,” he said as quoted in Irish Times.

Nate Diaz replied that he is only interested in fighting McGregor saying that he is not really interested in seeing anyone else.

Diaz even said that he would go “on vacation” if the fight didn’t happen on July 9.
