Wu Counters Resignation After ‘Pigs” Issue

Wu Wei, a tutor in the University of Sydney, resigns after issues of him calling his students ‘pigs’ were finally cleared out.

The recovery of the social media posts by Wu Wei, a business school’s head corporate finance tutor, made him resign from the University of Sydney, Australia.

In Australia, massive reports about Wu Wei’s social media posts scattered. The widespread report contains that he called his mainland student ‘pigs’.

The report became viral which forced the young tutor to resign and leave his position in the said university.

According to Brisbane Times, Mr. Wu Wei has hidden for a long time under a pseudonym Pekojima. Under the said code name, his students were alleged as cheaters by him.

He even cited that these Chinese students have low intelligent quotient as seen in Weibo, a Chinese micro-blogging site.

Before it became widespread in the University of Sydney, it was his students who discovered the posts which were mostly made a year before it was drawn in public.

The posts went around the university and aroused remarks from different people.

One student created the petition to Mr. Wu Wei. He even cited that one of Wu’s post is that the students under finance course in the University of Sydney will be hiring an essay writer due to having low IQ.

Further, in his post, he called his students ‘pigs’.

Supporting the tutor’s side were the local Australian-Chinese who tried to defend that Wu was using coded political slang popular with dissidents online.

The post cited by the student who worked on the petition against Wu was reviewed. Based from the review, tun, an obscure character, was used instead of zhu, a more common character referring to pig.

Mr. Wu’s remarks towards the performance of his Chinese students in Usyd became viral over the net. It even became one of the trending topics in Weibo.
