‘Parasite’ As The First South Korean Film To Have Nominations At The Golden Globe Awards

South Korean Film ‘Parasite’ became the first-ever film to enter the final list of nominees for the 2020 Golden Globe Awards.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced on Monday, December 9, the list of nominees for the upcoming 77th Golden Globe Awards. The said film garnered three nominations: Best Director (Bong Joon-ho), Best Screenplay (Bong Joon-ho and Han Jin-won), and Best Motion Picture for the Foreign Language category.

Bong Joon-ho will compete against Todd Phillips, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, and Sam Mendes for the Best Director category.

The ‘Parasite’ will compete against Marriage Story, The Two Popes, The Irishman, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood for the Best Screenplay category. The film will also compete against The Farewell, Pain and Glory, Les Miserables, and Portrait of a Lady on Fire for the Best Foreign Language Film category.

The ‘Parasite’ already won the prestigious Palme d’Or award during the Cannes Film Festival 2019. The said film stars Cho Yeo-Jeong, Park So-dam, Choi Woo-Shik, and Kang Ho-song, and a lot more.

The said film was currently holding a 99% rating as reviewed by Rotten Tomatoes. It already reached $123.4 million (equivalent to PHP 6.26 billion) since its release.

The upcoming 77th Golden Globe Awards will start on Sunday, January 5, 2020, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
