According to Kilab Multimedia, the 420 of 700 sacks of rice have already arrived at the Methodist Church in Kidapawan City, Cotabato province, where farmers are seeking for food aid.

The Kidapawan farmers recently made headlines following the offensive dispersal of Philippine National Polic (PNP) that left dozens of farmers wounded and 2 casualties on April 1, 2016.

It was reported that around 5,000 farmers and militants barricaded the national highway of Kidapawan City for three days already. They stage a protest to demand the release of 15,000 sacks of rice after the phenomenon affected their lands.

According to Sun Star, North Cotabato Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza allegedly promised the 15,000 sacks of subsidy to help the farmers amid the ongoing drought. She was recently criticized after she said that she will block any donation from politicians and other individuals, saying that it is an insult to her governance.

Meanwhile, the PNP and Commission of Human Rights (CHR) have already started the investigation about the incident.
