Giant Sinkhole Appears In The Middle Of Japan City Streets
On Tuesday (November 08, 2016), five-lane streets near the main railway station were swallowed by a giant sinkhole appeared in the middle of Japan’s city.
The giant sinkhole appeared at the traffic intersection in the southern city of Fukuoka, Japan and exposed the support columns of the nearby buildings. Residents’ fears of further collapses; the sinkhole was around 20 meters in diameter (66 feet) by 15.
Two separate holes were shown by a TV footage that sucked the asphalt and soil in front of the city’s Hakata Station at 5 am (2000 GMT Monday). The hole continued to grow bigger and bigger, then it caused fear to the residents.
“I got scared the most when a traffic light fell at an intersection close to where I was standing. I felt, ‘I have to get out of here,” a young man who saw the sinkhole told the reporters quoted by ABS-CBN.
