Rep. Leni Robredo Had the Biggest Expenditure Among VP Candidates

The winning Vice Presidential candidate of the ruling Liberal Party of the Philippines, Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo had the biggest Expenditure among the Vice Presidential candidates with over P418 million expenses during the recently concluded Philippine national and local elections based upon her submitted Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) submitted to the Comelec.

Rep. Leni Robredo’s SOCE reports showed that she received a total of P423,163,737.34, of which over P406 million was cash received from various sources; more than P192,000 in kind from various sources, and P16 million in kind from the Liberal Party, the ruling party of the present administration who already loses some its members due to the recent victory of Mayor Duterte.

The expenditures of Rep. Robredo was way ahead against her closest rival in the VP race, Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who reportedly spent only P140.54 million. Of the said amount, P9.8 million was his own money while he received a total of P130.7 million in cash and in kind donations from various sources.

Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero ranked third in the list of highest spender in the Vice Presidential race as his camp reported that they received over P322 million in contributions. Out of this amount, he spent P320.5 million. His report showed that he did not use personal funds for his vice presidential campaign.

Mayor Duterte’s running-mate and Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, reported receiving P188.9 million in donations wherein he spent around P189.12 million. The controversial lawmaker, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV stated on his SOCE that he received P61.16 million in donations. He spent around P736,569 from his pocket, spending a total of P61.89 million for his failed vice presidential bid.

Sen. Gringo Honasan spent the least among the vice presidential candidates, paying only P26.25 million for his campaign. He received P25.9 million in cash and in kind donations from various sources and spent P296,449.20 of his own money.
