In a report from GMA Network’s news program 24 Oras, the Department of Transportation will be pushing for the use of two-wheeled vehicles — including bicycles and motorcycles — as modes of transportations after lifting the quarantine measures in order to continually prevent the spread of COVID-19 or coronavirus disease 2019.

DOTr Assistant Secretary Steve Pastor stated that the use of two-wheeled vehicles — including bicycles and motorcycles — would allow the riders to comply with social distancing measures issued by the Philippine government, adding that the agency was currently coordinating with local government units (LGUs) in establishing bicycle or motorcycle lane for road safety.

As of 4:00 p.m. of May 6, the Department of Health reported 320 new cases of COVID-19, with 98 new recoveries and 21 new coronavirus deaths. This brought the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 10.004, with 1,506 total recoveries and 658 total fatalities.

Globally, the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 already reached over 3.68 million as of this writing, with more than 258,000 total fatalities and over 1.21 million total recoveries.
