Local Police Reports Claim Indonesian Man Allegedly Kills Own Baby
INDONESIA – An Indonesian man allegedly kills his own baby after his wife refused to sleep with him.
According to local police reports, the man was from Way Kanan, Lampung province in Indonesia. The Way Kanan Police said the suspect, a 20-year-old man, was fed up because his wife won’t sleep with him.
Afterward, he decided to take the life of his own baby on Sunday night. But, according to his wife, she merely refused to sleep with him because she was still on her postpartum period.
In Islamic culture, women are prohibited from sleeping with men during this period. Moreover, the suspect’s wife just gave birth 40 days earlier.
Based on an article from Inquirer, Way Kanan Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Binsar Manurung said:
Her rejection angered the suspect and he began to physically abuse the baby, who was being carried by his wife at the time.
The wife also tried to protect her baby but the husband was allegedly relentless with his attacks and continued to strike the child. Then, the wife tried to run away but was held back by her husband.
Moments later their child died due to multiple blows. Additionally, the wife also said that he saw her husband chocking their baby after she scolded him for smoking near the child.
As per the article, the husband was charged under Article 76C of the 2016 Child Protection Law. This could potentially mean a maximum of 15 years imprisonment for his crimes.
