Duterte Leads Latest SWS Poll, Expresses Gratitude

Rodrigo Duterte topped the latest presidential poll of SWS.

The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) standard-bearer Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte has topped the latest poll of Social Weather Systems (SWS) commissioned by Business World. Supporters of the tough-talking politician were happy about the result.

The survey which was conducted from March 30 to April 2 showed that most of the respondents want the Davao City Mayor as the next president of the Philippines. The poll, participated by 1,500 adult respondents, had a face-to-face interview.

This was the second time Mayor Duterte landed on the first spot. He also topped The Standard Poll in partnership with Laylo Research. The recent survey showed Duterte beating presidential Grace Poe with 30 percent.

Duterte ranked 1 with 27 percent  followed by Grace Poe who scored with 23 percent. Vice president Jejomar Binay came in third with 20 percent, followed administration bet Mar Roxas with 19 percent. Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago was last on the list with 3 percent.

The controversial Mayor was also thankful about the result. In a statement published by Inquirer, Duterte’s spokesman Peter Tiu Lavina said that they are grateful the result is reflecting what they have been working for.

“We are grateful that the surveys are now reflecting what we have been witnessing and experiencing on the ground,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. led the vice presidential race with 26 percent, followed by Senator Chiz Escudero with 21 percent. Camarines Sur representative Leni Robredo scored 19 percent and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano scored 13 percent. Senator Antonio Trillanes came last with only 5 percent.
