Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez reacted to the recent killings of local officials in the Philippines and shares his plans about politics.
Actor turned government official Richard Gomez expressed his reaction on the recent killings of local officials in the Philippines as he is the incumbent Mayor of Ormoc City.
It can be recalled that these past few days, news about the death of some local officials shocked the headlines.
Based on the article published in PEP, Mayor Antonio Halili ng Tanauan of Batanga, Mayor Ferdinand Bote of Gen. Tinio, Nueva Ecija and Vice Mayor Alex Lubigan of Trese Martires were killed.
In line with this issue, Richard shared his thoughts as the present Mayor of Ormoc.
“Well, kailangan talaga ingat parati. And more than that, as a mayor, kailangan labanan mo talaga ang drugs, e,” the actor/politician said.
He also shared his own experience in fighting the problem of illegal drugs in his jurisdiction.
According to Goma, Ormoc was considered to be the drug capital of Eastern Visayas from 2010 until he run for Mayor.
The husband of Lucy Torres also shared that during the campaign period that was one of the problems they encountered.
With this, Richard said that he is proud to say that Ormoc City is better now under his leadership as a Mayor.
“I’m most proud to say, when I became mayor, yun agad ang trinabaho namin. And after 14 months, Ormoc City became drug-free. After less than a year, Ormoc became the safest city in our country,” he proudly shared.
In addition to this, Goma said that in 2018, PNP declared Ormoc as the as the safest city in the Philippines.
When asked if he run for a higher position since he has a good political record, the actor/politician said that as of now he will stay in Ormoc to continue the projects he started.
He said that there are still a lot of work to be done in his city and he wants to sustain the programs he currently does, based on the article.
