Comelec Hopes Pacquiao To Attend Senate Sessions

Commission on Elections (Comelec) expressed hopes that Sarangani representative Manny Pacquiao to attend Senate Sessions if declared winner in the senatorial elections.

Commissioner Rowena Guanzon of the Commission on Elections expressed hopes Pacquiao to attend sessions and not be a top absentee the senate knowing his record in 2014where he only had attended four session days.

Pacquio is currently in 7th place with 15,735,079 votes in the Partial tally released by Comelec, sitting as National Board of Canvassers. The legislator was known and criticized as a top absentee in the House of Representatives where he represents the province of Sarangani.

In her message, the commissioner asked the newly elected senators to work hard and perform their duties as senators for the electorate who voted for them. “I advise them to study very hard and work very hard for the Filipino people. I have no doubt they will do an excellent job.” she added.

The Comelec will be proclaiming the winning senators and party-list on Thursday, May 19. Based on the National Board of Canvassers, other senatorial candidates who are set to join Pacquiao in the winning 12 senatorial seats are Franklin Drilon, Joel Villanueva, Vicente Sotto III, Panfilo Lacson, Richard Gordon, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Risa Hontiveros, Francis Pangilinan, Sherwin Gatchalian, Ralph Recto, and Leila de Lima.

  1. Senator-elect Manny Pacquiao can hire his own private staff, of lawyers and accountants, educators on top of the regular staffing for Senators. ..to be effective and productive politician.
