After the heartbreaking defeat against Far Eastern University (FEU), De La Salle University rebounded with a straight sets victory to secure the Finals of the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament.

Crowds yelled over the close fight on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena as the Lady Spikers marched for their last chance of surviving for the season’s finale match.

Though it was a celebrated straight sets win, the Lady Spikers struggled through 25-15, 27-25, 25-21 for their eight consecutive Finals appearance.

During their first meeting in the seasons’ final four match, the Lady Tamaraws left a shocking win over La Salle in five sets climbing back from a 0-2 hole and forcing a deciding game yesterday.

La Salle head coach Ramid de Jesus although was happy of the results, admitted that they lack preparation.

Veterans Ara Galang, Kim Dy, and Mika Reyes doubled their efforts conspiring attack points in the run while the Lady Tamaraws poised to equalize the match.

Majoy Baron also anchored the run in the sets to support La Salle’s rally.

With their much-worked win, La Salle is set to face their arch-rival Ateneo de Manila University for the fifth straight season.

In their first meeting during the elimination roung, the Lady Spikers routed the Lady Eagles in straight sets but the Lady Eagles lambasted their rivals with an epic-five setter revenge during the second round.

The lady eagles earlier secured the top spot lambasting the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons with a three-set victory.

The first face-off between the Lady Spikers and the Lady Eagles for the finals is set on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.
