On November 20, the U.S. Department of Commerce granted Microsoft’s request for a license to export mass-market software to Huawei,” a spokesperson of Microsoft told Reuters through e-mail. “We appreciate the Department’s action in response to our request.

The Commerce Department said it had begun issuing licenses for companies to sell products to Huawei. This may expand the company’s supplier base, and this may provide clarity to the industry.

According to a U.S. official on Wednesday, November 20, it had received 300 license requests. About 50% of requests had been processed, 25% had been approved, and the rest of these requests were denied.

This will be a major relief for Huawei after an arduous period with large technology players like Microsoft, Google and others restricted on the platform,” Dan Ives, an analyst, said.

Huawei still waiting for a license from Alphabet Inc.’s Google in order to supply its mobile services to its new smartphone models. Huawei may hard to sell its products to its customers if their smartphones have no access to Google services.
