Since the start of the Street View Service of Google, people like this man named Panupong Luangsa-ard have been walking all around Thailand to capture different views wherein vehicles can’t penetrate.

Panupong Luangsa-ard was actually a triathlete from Thailand who worked for Google to reach seemingly unreachable areas in the country that can’t be reached by any vehicles but by feet alone.

These trekkers like Panupong carry on their backs a special 360-degree camera that is used to capture the whole surrounding he’s in. Seems easy? No. That special equipment weighs about 18kg and the battery pack lasts for about 6-8 hours. So, it is expected for him to walk that long under the sun.

And because of Panupong’s tremendous efforts, Google now has able to add 150 new places in Thailand like the Ayutthaya ancient temples, the Sukhothai Historical Park and may more.

According to a representative from Google, Panupong have sacrificed four shoes during his trekking.

“While collecting just the tea plantations and strawberry fields, he burned through four pairs of shoes,” the Google representative said.

Panupong’s travel breaks when there are rainy days because, in order to have a clear shot, it needs fair skies.

In total, Panupong travelled about 500,000 km using different kinds of transportation methods where some 500 km were from walking.

By the way, what actually is Google Street View? Google Street View as WikiPedia states, is “a technology featured in Google Maps and Google Earth that provides panoramic views from positions along many streets in the world.”

It was first launched in 2007 then it expanded in different cities and rural areas in the world.
