The Pen Pineapple Apple Pen song and video was created by a Japanese caricature of the singer-songwriter called Piko-Taro, whose video has been uploaded on YouTube.

It is an incredibly add1ctive and catchy song that many covers have been made by other people who got interested by the said song.

In the original video, it can be seen that Piko-Taro singing and seemed to be fusing an apple, a pen, and a pineapple, in order to form the Pen Pineapple Apple Pen.

In an article by Spoon and Tamago, the Piko-Taro character is made by comedian and DJ Kosaka Daimaou (Kazuhiko Kosaka in real life).

The article added that the said character was first introduced in the live performances of the comedian. Piko-Taro became more popular after it was developed further by having its first YouTube video last August.
