Pak Ganern Origin – Filipinos have been using the new phrase, ‘Pak Ganern’ over the past weeks and it seems to be going viral over the Internet and even in real life.

Most people would use Pak Ganern to make a funny statement, usually done the express excitement. Commonly the new phrase is being placed at the end of the statement.

Pak Ganern has no specific origin or proven meaning. But according to Professor Felipe Jocao Jr. of the University of the Philippine-Diliman, during an interview with GMA News, have said that ‘Pak Ganern’ might have originated from two words: “Tumpak” and “Ganoon”.

Although ‘Ganern’ can be easily seen to be derived from the Filipino word “Ganoon”, ‘Pak’, on the other hand, with the guess of Jocano, said that it came from the word, “Tumpak”.

Pak Ganern, according to the professor, is a “multi-purpose” phrase as it can be used as a filler to some sentences (e.g. “Pak of the same feather, Ganern together) to give them a little funny twist.

In other cases, ‘Pak’ can also be the expression of the English term, “Boom!” and ‘Ganern’ from the Filipino word “Ganoon” means “Like that!”.

The new phrase has gone viral that people and celebrities like the comedian Vice Ganda transformed it to become the funny, Pak Ganern Dance Challenge.

But, there are rumors that scattered recently on social media saying that Pak Ganern’s origin has a dark side. According to the post of a certain Facebook user who reposted the statement wrote:

“Pak ganern is derived from latin words “Paccrassius” which means, “be with me satan” and Ganern – “Ganri” means “eternal”. So every time you say Pak Ganern, you are inviting Satan to be with you eternally. Be aware!”

The so-called Latin words, “Paccrassius” and “Ganri”, though do not appear in any Latin dictionaries online.

Still, there is no evidence that will prove the existence of such words.

Many people have reacted about the said Satanic meaning of the phrases saying that it might have been another made-up story that has been thrown on social media in order to gain some attention.
