According to Newsportal PH, it was already confirmed that the large telco company will invest in the country to give wider access to internet connection.

“The company aims to give wider access to 4G internet connection across the country. However, there are no exact dates on when the operation push through,” the report reads.

Telstra was previously in negotiations with San Miguel Corporation, but it was not pushed through.

It added that local telcos Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) and Globe claims that they are ready to compete with foreign telcos.

On May, President Duterte issued a warning to telecos to provide faster internet service or he will allow foreign investors to operate.

According to the Chief Executive, the opening of foreign internet service providers in the country would improve the services and bring down the prices. However, he failed to say on how he planned to do it.

Telco companies including Globe has vowed to improve their service through a new investment program.

“We support the call for faster Internet. In fact, Globe is at the forefront of building the much needed infrastructure nationwide to make Internet services easily accessible either through mobile or wireline,” Globe said in a statement.
