Aquino government will cut the water lines to Yolanda victims, says Romualdez.
More than two years after the super typhoon Yolanda hit the country, it seems that the government has yet to finished its responsibilities. Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez said that the Aquino government will allegedly cut the water supply to the victims of calamity by the end of April.
Speaking to the media at the Kapihan sa Manila Hotel, the mayor accused President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III of ordering to cut water lines that supply the survivors who are currently living in relocation sites and bunkhouses.
“After thousands of our people have transferred to the relocation sites and bunkhouses, for the past two years, they have yet to see a faucet. The water for cooking and drinking is still being rationed,” he said.
“And now, they wanted to stop the water rationing. I strongly reject that. It’s like killing them all over again and the culprit would be water again, after thousands perished in floodwaters and seawater,” Romualdez added.
In are report by The Standard, Alfred Romualdez even recalled that President Aquino declared a no-fly zone to Tacloban, delaying the relief operations of United States and other countries who helped. He added that it was only Senator and vice presidential bet Bonbong Marcos who insisted to fly the medical and and relief aid to the most affected City.
Romualdez made headlines aftermath of Yolanda after he was involved in a spat with presidential candidate and then DILG secretary Mar Roxas.
Meanwhile, the Romualdez clan is a long-time rival of Aquinos. They are related to former president Ferdinand Marcos, who put Noynoy Aquino’s father, Benigno Simeon “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. to jail.
