Former Senator Bongbong Marcos and the late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago were runningmates during the May 2013 local and national elections but both lost.
Former Senator Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. could not help himself and went emotional upon learning that his runningmate in the last May 2016 local and national elections succumbed to lung cancer on September 29, Thursday morning.
Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago left peacefully while she was asleep on her hospital bed after two years of fighting stage four lung cancer which was initially chronic fatigue syndrome.
In an interview, Marcos said that his tandem, Senator Miriam, is a big loss in the field of Politics in the Philippines.
He also recalled the strong position of Santiago in the boiling issues in the country and described her as “the most outstanding public servant”.
“Napakalungkot po ng balitang ito dahil alam naman natin na si Sen. Miriam ang isa sa pinakamagaling, pinakamahusay, pinakamatalino at pinaka-mapagkakatiwalaang public servant”.
(This is a very heartbreaking news because we all know Senator Miriam is one of the best, most outstanding, most brilliant and most trusted public servant.)
