The most popular presidential candidate in social media Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte has repeatedly said during his campaigns that he will push for a federal form of government. While many people have yet no idea about that type of governance, there’s a video that will explain how federalism works in the Philippines.

Rody Duterte believed that the federalism is the best option to solve the country’s problems. He also said that he will still work to push for the system even if he is not the president.
“A shift to a federal system of government is still the best option for the woes of this country,” Philstar quoted him saying.
During their campaign in Rizal, Duterte’s running mate vice presidential candidate Alan Peter Cayetan said that Duterte is the only candidate who want to change the government for the betterment of the country.
“Lahat nangangako sa inyo ng pagbabago, pero lahat gusto pareho sistema eh. Iisang kandidato, si Mayor Duterte, ang nagsabing palitan natin ang sistema. Federalismo, ang pera ng Rizal, mapupunta sa Rizal,” he said according to Rappler.
May I ask one question about Federalism. While it is that the money of one place will be retain by them for their own advantage, what about to those places which are oftenly hit or stricken by calamities and could hardly develop due to incapacity of their own eresources, what will happen to them?
in federalism, there will still be a centralized government, or more often called a ‘federal’ government. Each state, or regions, will retain majority of its income but not its totality. a portion of it will be forwarded to the federal government for military budget, emergency calamities, and so forth.
federalism, i think, would benefit the Philippines very much. It will minimize the corruption that happens within the current system of a unitary government where the fundings of the whole country goes through one central government, who, as all filipinos know, are managed by lying thieves. Honestly, It’s Duterte’s socialist leanings that concerns me just a little bit.
