Beginning on November 3, there will be an increase in toll fees for motorists passing through the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx), according to the statement released by the Toll Regulatory Board.
Starting on Friday, drivers traveling from Alabang to Calamba will experience an additional charge of P10 for Class 1 vehicles, P20 for Class 2 vehicles, and P30 for Class 3 vehicles.
Meanwhile, those traveling from Calamba to Sto. Tomas, Batangas will face an additional fee of P4, P6, and P8 for Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 vehicles, respectively, as per the Toll Regulatory Board’s findings.
According to Julius Corpuz, the spokesperson for the Toll Regulatory Board, “We also need to consider our toll investors.” He emphasized that the toll fee increase is necessary to maintain the quality of roads and services for motorists. However, despite the fee increase, the expected Carmageddon during the Undas season, as reported, did not materialize.
Despite understanding the government’s need to raise toll fees to maintain road efficiency, many motorists and citizens are significantly affected by the rising costs of using SLEx. These increases may place an additional burden on those who rely on this roadway for their daily commutes.
