Ai-Ai could not stop thanking Pope Francis, the bishops and priests who were instruments for her to be a Papal awardee.
An emotional Ai-Ai delas Alas appeared during the Thanksgiving Mass and Solemn Investiture of the Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice Award which was given to her at the Cathedral Shrine and Parish of the Good Shepherd in Fairview, Quezon City.
The Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice Award is the highest recognition given by the Holy See to the laymen who serve and contribute to the Roman Catholic Church.
The Thanksgiving Mass and Solemn Investiture was held on Friday, November 11, which happened to be the natal day of the “Comedy Concert Queen”.
The usually witty Ai-Ai was teary-eyed during that day because of the overwhelming joy and happiness that she felt for the prestigious award which served as a birthday gift of the Holy Church to her.
In her speech, Ai-Ai thanked Pope Francis, Bishop Antonio Tobias ang all the priests who served as instruments for her to be a Papal awardee.
She also did not forget to thank her late biological parents, her adoptive mother, children, boyfriend Gerald Sibayan, friends, fans and all who she works with in a television network.
But she proved to deserve the title “Comedy Concert Queen” because in the middle of her speech in that solemn activity, Ai-Ai suddenly cracked a joke about the deafness of her mother, saying: “’Yan lang po ang masasabi, hindi niya maintindihan, bingi iyan eh. Maraming salamat Nay sa inspirasyon at pagmamahal mo sa akin”.
(That is all I can say, she cannot understand anyway because she is deaf. Mother, thank you very much for the inspiration and your love to me).
“Kung makahalik siya kanina, akala niya, santa ako (she kissed me earlier as if I was a saint)”.
