The heat index often called the feels-like temperature, is determined by combining the air temperature with the relative humidity, reflecting the perceived temperature by the human body. This index tends to rise notably during the country’s warm and dry season, typically from March to May.
Luzon:
In Metro Manila, several cities have opted to suspend face-to-face classes for preschool to senior high school levels in both public and private institutions until May 3. These include Caloocan, Las Piñas, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Manila, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Pasay, and Valenzuela City.
In the Bicol region, Daraga in Albay and Masbate City in Masbate province have also suspended face-to-face classes across all levels in public and private schools.
Calabarzon provinces such as Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal have likewise announced the suspension of face-to-face classes in various cities and municipalities until May 3 or 4, depending on the area.
In Central Luzon, Bataan province and Bulacan’s Calumpit have suspended face-to-face classes for public schools, ensuring the safety of students and staff.
Visayas:
Valencia in Bohol province, located in Central Visayas, has suspended face-to-face classes for all levels in both public and private schools until May 3.
Mindanao:
In the Zamboanga Peninsula, specifically in Zamboanga Sibugay province, Tungawan has announced the suspension of face-to-face classes in all levels for both public and private schools until May 3.
