Former Vice President Leni Robredo has called for immediate assistance for the residents of Naga City, which has been severely affected by flooding caused by Typhoon Kristine. Robredo emphasized the urgent need for pump boats to evacuate stranded individuals in areas already submerged in floodwaters. According to her, rescue trucks are unable to navigate the deep waters, which have reached depths of three to six feet.
As early as 9:51 PM, nearly all parts of Naga City, Camarines Sur, have been inundated by floodwaters. Continuous rainfall from the typhoon has left many residents stranded and in need of urgent evacuation. The local government of Naga also reported that their rescue operations are overwhelmed, and additional vehicles capable of passing through deep floodwaters are desperately needed.
Despite currently running for a local government position, Robredo’s commitment to helping in times of disaster is undeniable. Since stepping down as Vice President, she has remained active in meaningful efforts within her hometown. This latest appeal further proves that one does not need to hold a high government position to extend help to those in need.
“Our people clearly need pump boats because rescue trucks can no longer pass through the floodwaters,” Robredo stated in a social media post. “We must all work together now to ensure everyone’s safety.” She added that she has been working tirelessly to organize the necessary relief efforts for those affected by the typhoon.
Robredo also reminded residents to stay safe and follow evacuation orders from local authorities. She urged the public and private sectors to collaborate in providing immediate support, particularly in securing additional pump boats that will be crucial in the coming days.
Rescue ops are ongoing in Naga City, but frontliners are already overwhelmed by the high number of residents in need.

It’s a consolation that @angatbuhay_ph was able to distribute rescue boats to all barangays last month.
