The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has reaffirmed its commitment to aiding typhoon victims, announcing that financial assistance is available for families whose homes were damaged or destroyed by recent calamities.
DHSUD Undersecretary Randy Escolango detailed on Monday that the aid falls under the agency’s Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP). Under the program, beneficiaries whose homes were partially damaged will receive ₱10,000, while those with totally damaged houses will receive larger amounts based on their needs.
Escolango emphasized that this initiative aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive for government agencies to establish a “conveyor belt of aid” to ensure swift and comprehensive support for Filipinos affected by disasters.
“To access the assistance, families must be listed in their local government’s master list of beneficiaries,” Escolango explained. “They need to approach their LGUs, locate the local housing board, and submit the necessary documents, including a valid ID and a completed application form.”
For local government units (LGUs), DHSUD requires three essential documents to process the assistance: a certified master list of beneficiaries, a certificate of eligibility, and an official disaster report detailing the extent of damage in their area.
Escolango highlighted the importance of collaboration between national and local authorities, stressing that the streamlined process ensures quick delivery of aid. “We aim to make the process straightforward and efficient so that no family is left behind,” he said.
The IDSAP is part of the DHSUD’s broader efforts to provide immediate relief and long-term recovery solutions to communities impacted by natural disasters. It complements other government programs aimed at rebuilding lives and infrastructures in affected areas.
This initiative comes as several typhoons have battered the country in recent months, displacing thousands of families and leaving many homes uninhabitable. The DHSUD, in coordination with LGUs, is working to ensure that all eligible families receive the necessary assistance to recover and rebuild.
Victims are encouraged to contact their respective LGUs or visit DHSUD offices for more information and to facilitate the inclusion of their names in the beneficiary master list. The agency also urged local officials to expedite the submission of required documents to accelerate the disbursement of funds.
