Family of Gloria Romero Statement on Her Last Will and Testament

The family of veteran actress Gloria Romero has addressed and dismissed rumors regarding the alleged last will of the late screen icon.

Gloria Romero

Romero, a beloved figure in Philippine cinema, passed away on January 25 at the age of 91. Her remains were cremated on January 29 after a wake held at Arlington Memorial Chapels on Araneta Avenue, Quezon City. Public viewing was allowed from January 27 to January 28, allowing fans and loved ones to pay their final respects.

However, even as the family mourned, an unverified post circulated online claiming that Romero had left behind a significant fortune amounting to Php 717.9 million in various time deposits. The alleged will reportedly allocated 15% each to her daughter Maritess Gutierrez and grandson Chris Gutierrez, 40% toward building a high school, and the remaining portion to three non-government organizations.

The Romero family has strongly denied these claims. In an official statement relayed by journalist MJ Marfori of News5, they asserted that no such document exists and that the allegations are completely baseless.

“This is misleading, unfounded, and lacks any evidence,” the statement read, emphasizing that there is no truth to the circulating claims. The family urged the public to respect their time of mourning and to refrain from spreading false information.

Furthermore, they called for people to honor the memory of Gloria Romero by focusing on her legacy rather than engaging in unverified speculations about her estate.

Romero, known as the “Queen of Philippine Cinema,” enjoyed a decades-long career and was widely respected in the industry. Her passing has left a profound impact on colleagues and fans alike, making it all the more important for the public to celebrate her contributions rather than entertain misleading reports.
