Miguel Padlan, son of Dr. Michael Padlan, recently spoke out to defend his father following his breakup with Kris Aquino. In a heartfelt Facebook post on Tuesday, Miguel expressed his support for his father and clarified misconceptions about their relationship.
Miguel confirmed the breakup, saying that his father and Kris, whom he affectionately referred to as “Mama,” had gone their separate ways because “the spark between them was gone.” He emphasized that although their relationship ended, it did not mean his father never loved Kris.
“However, that does not mean my father never loved her. He truly did. Their relationship was real, and he cared deeply for her. But love alone is not always enough to make a relationship last forever. Sometimes, two people are simply not meant to be together in the long run, no matter how much they once loved each other,” Miguel stated.
Miguel also opened up about the challenges their family faced during the relationship. He admitted that he and his siblings often felt neglected because their father spent a lot of time traveling to the United States to be with Kris.
“He gave so much of his time and energy to her, even at the cost of his own well-being. There were times when he had little to no money left and was losing patients at his clinic, yet he still chose to be with her,” Miguel revealed.
To clear any misconceptions, Miguel firmly stated that his father never asked Kris for anything, and whatever she gave was purely out of her generosity. “Despite all the hardships he faced, both emotionally and financially, my father never abandoned us. He remained present in our lives, even during the most difficult times,” he added.
Miguel acknowledged Kris’s kindness and maintained his respect for her, despite the hurt they experienced. “It may hurt to admit that my siblings and I sometimes felt neglected by our father, but we understand—Mama Kris needed him, and we respected that,” he said.
Miguel appealed to Kris not to spread stories that misrepresented the truth. “We love you, Mama Kris, and we love our father as well. Family is family. That is why I am here—to support my father and stand by my family,” he concluded.
This statement came after Kris Aquino revealed on Sunday that she and Dr. Michael Padlan had officially parted ways, detailing her pain and expressing gratitude to Michael’s children, who brought her moments of happiness.
