Atty. Sia, who is running for Congress, did not hesitate to criticize the current administration of Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto. He challenged Mayor Sotto to a public debate to address various issues affecting the city. According to Sia, significant infrastructure projects, such as new schools, housing units, and a public hospital, have not been delivered under Sotto’s leadership. He accused Sotto of offering “false hope” with his slogan “Umaagos ang Pag-asa” (Hope Flows), claiming that nothing substantial has changed in the city.
Sia also took issue with the lack of action regarding building violations in Pasig, particularly the case involving St. Gerrard Construction General Contractor and Development Corp. He pointed out that over 30,000 buildings in Pasig are operating without occupancy permits, yet only one case, involving Ate Sarah, was addressed by the administration.
Furthermore, Sia criticized the state of healthcare services in Pasig, highlighting the lack of proper facilities at Pasig City General Hospital. He pointed out that some patients were forced to sit on monobloc chairs due to a shortage of proper hospital equipment. Sia expressed his advocacy for helping Pasigueños who struggle with hospital bills and cannot afford the care they need.
However, it was the viral video of his remark about solo parents that became the main focus of attention. Many netizens expressed their anger and disapproval, arguing that such a comment was inappropriate and insensitive for a public campaign.
