Veteran South Korean actor Choi Jung Woo has passed away, as confirmed by his agency Bless ENT on May 27. The agency issued a brief statement saying, “Actor Choi Jung Woo has passed away,” and added that “the exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed.”

Born in 1957, Choi Jung Woo began his acting journey in 1975 with the stage production The Life of an Actor. Throughout his career, he gained recognition for his versatility, working extensively in both theater and voice acting. He was affiliated with various theater groups, including the prestigious Shinsi company, and built a strong reputation for his performances on stage and screen.
Choi had a rich filmography spanning multiple genres. He was known for his memorable roles in dramas such as God’s Quiz, Two Cops, Brilliant Legacy, Prosecutor Princess, My Daughter Seo Young, Master’s Sun, Call It Love, and Tyrant. He also left a mark in the film industry with appearances in Public Enemy 2, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, and The Chaser. His ability to embody a range of characters—from comedic to deeply dramatic—earned him the admiration of colleagues and fans alike.
