Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa confirmed on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, that he is the author of the resolution circulating in the Senate seeking to dismiss the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.
In an ambush interview, Dela Rosa emphasized that the contents of the draft resolution reflect his personal views.
“Basahin n’yo yung resolusyon, you will understand everything. That’s very self-explanatory. Kung anong mabasa n’yo doon, kung anong sinasabi do’n, yun ang saloobin ko,” said Dela Rosa.
The senator explained that he has not yet officially filed the resolution and is still consulting his colleagues in the Senate. He said he wants to consider feedback from fellow senators, some of whom may also be drafting their versions.
“Kaya pinapabasa ko sa kanila yung draft. Tinitingnan ko. Baka kasi yung iba, yung ibang kasamahan namin may ibang draft. So siguro i-incorporate yun kung ano yung magagandang provision doon sa kanilang draft. Para mapaganda yung final version at magiging acceptable sa lahat, o [kung] pwedeng makuha ang suporta ng lahat—ng karamihan,” he explained.
Earlier that same day, Senator Imee Marcos also acknowledged the existence of several drafts of the resolution, each with a different approach and legal angle in addressing the pending impeachment complaint against the Vice President.
“One of the many drafts, na iba-iba ang pakay — parang pangatlo yan sa nakita ko, maraming versions, lahat ay naghahanap ng pinakamabisa at pinaka naaayon sa batas na solusyon, yung walang butas,” Marcos shared.
Senator Jinggoy Estrada likewise confirmed having seen a physical copy of the resolution but clarified that he had not been asked to sign or support it yet.
“Marami na ngang umuugong-ugong na chismis nga tungkol do’n. I just confirmed it last Monday na mayroon ngang reso na umiikot nga. But I don’t think may mga pumirma,” Estrada said.
The draft resolution has stirred significant attention as lawmakers seek a unified stance on whether or not to dismiss the impeachment complaint against Vice President Duterte. As of now, the resolution remains unofficial, pending further discussions and consolidation among senators.
