WalangPasok: Class Suspensions on July 28, 2025 Due to SONA and Weather

Classes in various parts of the country are suspended on Monday, July 28, 2025, due to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) and the adverse weather conditions brought by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Depression Emong (international name: Co-may).

PBBM SONA

In Quezon City, Mayor Joy Belmonte has announced a suspension of classes in all levels, both public and private schools. The decision was made to minimize disruptions caused by road closures and heightened security measures around the Batasang Pambansa Complex, where President Marcos will deliver his SONA. “All residents are enjoined to listen to the SONA of the President,” Belmonte added.

Beyond Metro Manila, other local government units (LGUs) have also declared class suspensions due to inclement weather and flooding in several low-lying areas.

National Capital Region:

  • Malabon City: Suspension of face-to-face classes from Kindergarten to Senior High School and Alternative Learning System in all public schools.

Ilocos Region:

  • La Union: All face-to-face classes suspended in both public and private schools. Colleges are to shift to asynchronous learning.
