The number of reported fatalities due to Typhoons Crising, Dante, Emong, and the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat has risen to 37, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in its 6 a.m. update released Thursday.

The deaths were recorded across various regions in the country: nine in Metro Manila, eight in Calabarzon, six in Western Visayas, three each in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Negros Island Region, and Northern Mindanao, two in Central Luzon, and one each in Mimaropa, Davao Region, and Caraga.
Of the total reported fatalities, only two have been officially confirmed. In one incident, a person was struck by a falling tree in Barangay Poblacion, Mambajao, Camiguin. Another victim in Barangay Matin-ao, Mainit, Surigao del Norte, was hit by a collapsing tree while riding a motorcycle from a friend’s house.
In addition, 22 individuals were reported injured, and eight remain missing.
The severe weather, fueled by a combination of tropical cyclones and the southwest monsoon, affected a staggering 7,685,943 people or 2,121,645 families across all regions except Eastern Visayas. Central Luzon reported the highest number of affected individuals at over 2.8 million.
Various forms of devastation have been documented, including widespread flooding, landslides, structural collapses, and tornadoes. The impact on public infrastructure alone is estimated at ₱10.08 billion, while agriculture losses reached ₱1.96 billion. Damage to irrigation systems was pegged at ₱281.66 million.
More than 46,000 houses were damaged—41,217 partially and 5,438. There were also multiple interruptions in electricity, water supply, and communication lines reported in heavily affected areas.
Air and sea travel were not spared, with some airports and seaports rendered non-operational, stranding numerous passengers. The inclement weather also led to the suspension of classes in 1,046 locations and work schedules in 911 areas.
Due to the extensive damage and continuing threat, a state of calamity was declared in 241 cities and municipalities, covering entire provinces such as La Union, Bataan, Pampanga, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Antique, and Negros Occidental, along with numerous municipalities in Pangasinan, Bulacan, Tarlac, Zambales, and Metro Manila, including Quezon City, Marikina, Navotas, Manila, Valenzuela, Caloocan, Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Muntinlupa.
As of the latest NDRRMC report, assistance worth ₱763.69 million has been distributed to affected families. Over 105,000 individuals remain in evacuation centers, while another 88,000 are staying with relatives or in temporary shelters.
Government agencies continue to monitor weather developments and provide support to victims as recovery efforts are underway across affected regions.
