Actress and comedian Rufa Mae Quinto expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) after it paid tribute to her late husband, former police officer Trevor Magallanes.
On Thursday, August 7, Quinto took to Instagram to share the official statement issued by SFPD Interim Chief Paul Yep, which acknowledged Magallanes’ service and dedication to the community.
“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of former San Francisco Police Officer Trevor Magallanes,” Chief Yep said in the statement. “Trevor joined the San Francisco Police Department on September 24, 2018, as a member of the 263rd Recruit Academy Class. During his time with the Department, he served the communities of the Mission, Tenderloin, Central, and Taraval Districts with dedication and commitment. Trevor concluded his service with the Department in February 2023.”
The statement also paid tribute to Magallanes’ role as a father, highlighting his close bond with his and Quinto’s daughter, Athena. “Athena was the light of his life,” it read.
The SFPD concluded its message with condolences to Magallanes’ family, friends, and former colleagues, offering support during this time of mourning.
In response, Quinto thanked the police department for remembering her husband and honoring his legacy. “Thank you for this honor. We love you, officer Trevor Magallanes,” she wrote in a heartfelt post.
Magallanes’ untimely passing has deeply affected Quinto and their daughter. Though details surrounding his death have not been publicly disclosed, the actress has been vocal in remembering and honoring her husband’s memory on social media.
Quinto, best known for her comedic roles in Philippine film and television, has been living between the Philippines and the United States in recent years. She married Magallanes, a Filipino-American, in 2016.
