Pagasa Afternoon Weather Forecast September 8, 2025

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) released its afternoon weather forecast on Monday, September 8, 2025, reporting that easterlies continue to influence weather conditions across Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Weather Forecast Today

As of 3:00 PM today, Severe Tropical Storm Tapah (formerly “Lannie”) was located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), approximately 1,095 kilometers west-northwest of Extreme Northern Luzon at coordinates 23.0°N, 111.5°E. Tapah is packing maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts reaching up to 185 kilometers per hour. The storm is moving north-northwestward at 30 kilometers per hour and is not expected to directly affect the country, though it continues to be closely monitored.

Forecast Weather Conditions

Pagasa said that the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies. Residents in these areas are advised to remain alert for possible flash floods or landslides, especially during moderate to heavy rainfall.

Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, CALABARZON (excluding Quezon), the rest of Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Similar hazards, such as sudden flooding and landslides, may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with localized thunderstorms, which will bring the same risks of flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.

Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

  • For MIMAROPA, Visayas, and Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast, with slight to moderate seas reaching 0.6 to 1.5 meters.
  • In the rest of Luzon, winds will also be light to moderate, coming from the northeast to the southeast, with coastal waters remaining slight to moderate, at 0.6 to 1.5 meters.
