Local government units have declared class suspensions in several areas on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, as precautionary measures against the expected heavy rains and possible flooding brought by Tropical Depression MirasolPH.

In Laguna, local officials announced the suspension of classes in all levels, both public and private schools. The move aims to ensure the safety of students as rainfall is expected to intensify throughout the day.
Meanwhile, in Lopez, Quezon, authorities also suspended classes in all levels across public and private schools. In addition, work in government offices has been suspended, except for frontline agencies providing emergency and essential services.
The suspensions follow the latest advisory from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), which reported that MirasolPH has maintained its strength as it moves closer to Luzon. The weather bureau warned of heavy to intense rainfall that could trigger flash floods and landslides in flood-prone and mountainous areas.
Local disaster risk reduction and management offices have been placed on high alert to monitor possible incidents and extend immediate assistance to affected communities. Residents, particularly those living near rivers, low-lying areas, and slopes, are advised to stay vigilant and heed evacuation orders if necessary.
Authorities also urged the public to monitor official announcements through reliable government channels and avoid spreading unverified information on social media.
The government reminded everyone to prioritize safety, especially as the southwest monsoon is expected to further enhance the rainfall brought by the tropical depression.
More updates on additional class and work suspensions are expected as local governments assess the weather situation.
