PAGASA Weather Forecast February 20, 2026

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Friday that a shear line is affecting the eastern sections of the Visayas and Mindanao, while the Northeast Monsoon, locally known as “Amihan,” continues to influence Luzon.

Weather Today

Shear Line Triggers Rains in Visayas and Mindanao

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected over Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, SOCCSKSARGEN, BARMM, Eastern Visayas, Sulu, Cebu, and Bohol due to the shear line. PAGASA warned residents in these areas of possible flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous communities, as moderate to at times heavy rains may occur.

In the rest of Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail due to the easterlies. While generally localized, severe thunderstorms may still trigger flash floods or landslides.

Amihan to Bring Light Rains Over Luzon

The Northeast Monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, and Quezon. PAGASA noted that no significant impacts are expected in these areas.

Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and the remaining parts of the Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also caused by the Amihan, with minimal weather-related disruptions anticipated.

Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will affect Luzon and the eastern section of the Visayas. Coastal waters in these areas will be moderate to rough, with wave heights ranging from 1.5 to 3.4 meters. Fisherfolk and small seacraft operators are advised to exercise caution.

In the rest of the country, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to east, with slight to moderate seas ranging from 0.6 to 2.5 meters.

Heavy Rainfall Warning in Mindanao

PAGASA-Mindanao PRSD issued Heavy Rainfall Warning No. 9 at 5:00 a.m., highlighting areas under Orange and Yellow warnings due to flooding and landslide threats.

Under the Orange Warning, flooding is threatening low-lying areas, and landslides are possible in mountainous terrain in parts of Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Agusan del Sur, and Davao de Oro.

Several areas across Mindanao, including parts of Lanao provinces, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, are also expected to experience moderate to occasionally heavy rains within the next few hours.
