Eastern Samar Hit by 4.5 Magnitude Earthquake
EARTHQUAKE – A quake with a magnitude of 4.5 recently hit Eastern Samar according to the bulletin released by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
Every country has a government agency that is tasked to record the natural calamities happening in the areas within the nation. They are the ones who release the information and updates regarding a calamity or natural occurrence.
In the Philippines, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or more commonly called Phivolcs is the one in-charged of monitoring the natural occurrences in all the parts of the country.
Among the natural events that usually happen every day are earthquakes. Daily, several quakes hit the different parts of the country. Recently, Phivolcs released a bulletin about a quake in Eastern Samar.
Based on the information bulletin released by Phivolcs, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 hit a part of Eastern Samar today, March 20,
The quake was located at 10.94°North, 126.28°East – 061 km South 80° East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. The 3.2 magnitude quake had a 015 km. depth of focus.
Based on the bulletin released by the agency, the 4.5 magnitude earthquake that hit Eastern Samar today, March 20, 2019, was tectonic in origin.
According to Phivolcs, no aftershock or damage caused by the quake is expected. We’ll keep you posted for further updates.
