Bicol Center for Health Development on Monday reported Camarines Norte’s first confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.
This, as the Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development in the Bicol Region said in a press released that DOH Bicol reported two new COVID-19 cases — one in Camarines Norte and one in Camarines Sur — which brought the total number of confirmed cases to 61.
According to DOH Bicol, a 41-year old male patient from Tigaon in Camarines Sur was recorded as the 60th infected patient in the Bicol region. The patient’s exposure, according to DOH Bicol, was subject to verification as of press time.
In addition, a 45-year old male patient from Labo in Camarines Norte was recorded as the 61st infected patient in the said region.
As per the report, the said patient from Camarines Norte was first experiencing symptoms last April 27 and consulted at Camarines Norte Provincial Hospital last May 4, adding that the said patient was currently admitted. Moreover, the patient’s exposure, according to DOH Bicol, was still being established as of press time.
The DOH CHD – Bicol appealed to the public that they must follow the community quarantine procedures and precautionary measures — such as proper handwashing, social distancing, proper cough etiquette, disinfecting commonly-used objects, healthy lifestyle, and staying at home.
As of 4:00 p.m. of May 11, the Philippines reported 292 new coronavirus cases, 75 new recoveries, and 7 new fatalities. This brought the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 11,086, with 1,999 total recoveries and 726 total fatalities.
