LTO Continued Its Operations In Areas Under General Community Quarantine
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) released an advisory on the resumption of operations of its offices which were located on areas under General Community Quarantine (GCQ).
Signed by Asec. Edgar Galvante, the Land Transportation Office issued a public advisory dated May 9, 2020, announcing that the resumption of operations of its offices would start on May 13, 2020, in areas under General Community Quarantine.
This, according to the advisory, was in light of the implementation of General Community Quarantine in certain areas of the Philippines which have been classified as low-risk or medium-risk areas for the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 pandemic.
Also, the Land Transportation Office urged their clients to abide with the health and safety protocols being enforced in its offices, including the mandatory wearing of face masks, observing physical and social distancing, and those aged below 21 and above 60 will only be allowed after the lifting of the Community Quarantine.
As per the report, frontliners will also be given priority.
In order for the Land Transportation Office to address the backlog of transactions, its offices will be open on Saturdays. Licenses that would expire within the duration of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) will also be extended for up to 60 days after the lifting of ECQ.
Also, the Land Transportation Office will not collect penalties for the late registration of their clients’ motor vehicles within the Enhanced Community Quarantine period.
