American comedian Steve Harvey says he cannot wait to host the Miss Universe Pageant to be held in Manila.
American comedian Steve Harvey is looking forward to once again host the Miss Universe 2016 to be held in the Philippines next year.
Harvey said he cannot wait to be a part of the prestigious event with 2015 Pinay Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach.
He even reposted the 26-year-old Cagayan de Oro beauty’s tweet where Pia expressed the same excitement to be working with Harvey. The tweet went with a picture.
Upon knowing that Steve Harvey has a contract with the Miss Universe Organization to again host this year’s event, President Rodrigo Duterte, through Department of Tourism Sec. Wanda Teo, has expressed his disapproval of Harvey’s handling of the microphone.
In last year’s coronation night, Harvey has mistakenly announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez to be the Miss Universe 2015 only to ask for an apology many times later, admitting Gutierrez was only first runner-up while Wurtzbach was actually the winner.
The president was even quoted as calling Harvey “a disaster” and that he will talk to the organizers of the pageant to tell them that he wants the American comedian out of the coronation night to avoid the repeat of the last pageant’s fiasco.
But Sec. Teo remained upbeat saying, “I’ve known him (Duterte) for many years as our mayor with a big heart for forgiveness to well-meaning people like Mr. Harvey, who did not hesitate to correct his mistake, thus changing the life of our very own Bb. Pilipinas-Universe Pia Wurtzbach”.
Teo also added that a Filipina may be added as a co-host to ensure that Harvey will not make the same mistake two years in a row and also to appease Duterte.
Harvey almost lost his reputation in the said mix-up issue.
However, the 59-year-old host made no mention of Duterte’s disapproval on him.
The Miss Universe 2016 pageant will be held on January 30, 2017 at MOA Arena in Pasay City.
