Age is just a number in the field of modeling especially in China where an 80 year old guy is still an in-demand fashion model.
An 80 year old fashion model continues to heat the ramps in China despite his old age.
Wang Deshun rose to fame after his 30 second, bare-chested runway appearance during the China Fashion Week in 2015 but he is continuing to soar with his tall, muscular build.
Wang became an instant head-turner on his first time walk on the runway and it was credited to his flowing white beard.
He became an instant internet sensation and got instant nicknames, “China’s Hottest Grandpa” and “Old Fresh Meat”, which is a play on words for the popular phrase, “Little Fresh Meat”, which is used to describe young, attractive television stars.
Having an old aged fashion model would be the last thing in mind for fashion designers, including China’s top designer Hu Sheguang, who never thought of it while he was planning the China Fashion Week 2015.
But things changed when he saw a photo of the 80 year old Wang in the cellular phone of WW Wang, the musician who was composing tracks for the fashion show.
Hu asked who the old man was and upon learning that it was the composer’s father, Wang Deshun was quickly introduced to him. Wang was then invited to do the catwalk, which he accepted right away.
Wang was born in 1936 in the northeastern Chinese city of Shenyang. He is an actor by trade and started to work in pantomime.
To keep his body in shape for his acting career, he started to enroll to a gym when he was 50 and about a decade later, he created a performance called “living sculpture”.
For about 30 years now, Wang never stopped training, which keeps his modeling career in demand.
