Matutina was best known for her role as the outspoken housemaid in the 1970s hit sitcom John en Marsha, where she worked alongside legendary actors Dolphy and Nida Blanca. Her character, a sharp-tongued but lovable helper under the strict Doña Delilah (Dely Atay-Atayan), became an unforgettable part of Philippine television history.
Before making her mark on television, Bontogon started her career as a voice talent in radio dramas aired on RPN 9. Her unique voice and comedic timing eventually led to opportunities in acting, with TV director Ading Fernando discovering her through a friend’s recommendation.
In recent years, broadcast journalist Julius Babao managed to locate and feature Matutina in one of his vlogs. At 78, she was wheelchair-bound due to osteoporosis but remained sharp and cheerful.
