After a year of waiting since its finale on Cartoon Network in 2018, Adventure Time will finally make a comeback exclusively on HBO Max starting 2020.
In an announcement Wednesday, HBO Max ordered four new Adventure Time specials. These are “BMO”, “Obsidian”, “Wizard City”, and “Together Again”.
Collectively entitled “Adventure Time: Distant Lands,” these one-hour specials will tell more stories about the journey of Finn and Jake in the Land of Ooo.
The Synopsis
“BMO” will focus on the sentient robot as BMO is called to “a deadly space emergency in the farthest reaches of the galaxy.” “Obsidian” will focus only on Marceline and Princess Bubblegum as they go on a journey to the Glass Kingdom to stop the holocaust while revealing more knowledge onto their stormy past.
The “Wizard City” will focus on the story of Peppermint Butler as he starts again as an inexperienced student of Wizard School. “Together Again” will allow you to witness the most important adventure of Finn and Jake’s lives.
“BMO” and “Obsidian” will be the first two episodes to air on HBO Max. The other two have no specific date to set yet.
What to Expect
“The enchanted world of ‘Adventure Time’ has mesmerized viewers and critics alike as Finn and Jake right wrongs and battle evil,” Sarah Aubrey, HBO Max’s head of original content, said in a statement.
“The addition of these specials to the HBO Max kids and family programming lineup is sure to make kids everywhere say ‘Slam-bam-in-a-can!’ ” Aubrey added.
