Star Music Philippines, the group’s record label, announced the news on social media, expressing their pride and joy. “NUMBER ONE NA ANG NAG-IISANG NATION’S GIRL GROUP!” they wrote on June 16. “Isang nakaka-feel good na Sunday as our [BINI] makes herstory by being the first Filipino act to reach the #1 spot on the Spotify Philippines Daily Top Artists Chart. Congratulations, girls!”

BINI’s journey to the top of the charts began on February 9, 2024, when they first entered the rankings at number 190. Over the course of 128 days, their popularity soared, culminating in their historic achievement. Previously, Taylor Swift held the top spot for an impressive 968 days, with Quezon City ranking among the top global listeners of the “Tortured Poets Department” singer in 2022.

The current local chart also features other prominent artists, with Hev Abi securing the third spot, followed by Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, Maki, TJ Monterde, SZA, Al James, and Billie Eilish.

As of writing, BINI boasts over 6.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with their hit song “Pantropiko” amassing over 80 million plays. This surge in popularity is a testament to their growing influence and the enthusiastic support of their fans.

BINI recently celebrated their third anniversary on June 11 with a special gathering at One Ayala Makati. They also launched their official website a day earlier, further cementing their presence in the music industry. The celebrations continued on June 12, when the group performed at Musikalayaan at Quirino Grandstand. However, the performance had to be cut short due to safety concerns, as some members of the crowd began to get too close to the stage, with a few even climbing on the scaffolding and some fainting.

Formed in 2019, BINI consists of eight talented members: Jhoanna, Maloi, Stacey, Aiah, Colet, Gwen, Mikha, and Sheena. Their hard work, dedication, and talent have clearly paid off, as they now stand at the pinnacle of musical success in the Philippines. With this latest achievement, BINI has not only made history but also set a new standard for Filipino artists on the global stage.
